"He`s a star of the future in African football." This was the conclusion reached by practically every observer who saw Ismael Beko Fofana in action in Gambia earlier this year. And he was wooing onlookers right from the word go, with two goals in the Ivorians` opening game. Two further goals meant he finished the tournament with four from five games. A product of Asec Abidjan`s Mimos Sifcom academy, Fofana may not be the most powerful of centre-forwards, but his remarkable eye for goal make him an archetypal `fox in the box`.
