Dette er den historiske dagen sveinung:

September 1 is a special date on the Spurs calendar this year - it marks a century since our first-ever league game against Wolves.

On Thursday September 1, 1908, a crowd of 20,000 witnessed a fantastic 3-0 win against FA Cup holders Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Second Division of the Football League.

Three of the Spurs team - Hewitson, McFarlane and Bob Steel - made their debuts and the inclusion of the great Vivian Woodward, who usually would not play football until the end of the cricket season, indicated the importance of the occasion.

In rain and windswept conditions, it took just six minutes for Spurs to open their league account when Woodward pounced on the loose ball after Wolves' keeper Lunn parried Walton's free-kick from outside the box.

It was almost 2-0 soon after when Lunn again found a shot too hot to handle but this time Woodward shot just wide.

Wolves' only serious chance of the game followed but Radford's goal was ruled offside.

Woodward and Middlemiss then had goals ruled out for the same reason and it was no surprise when the second goal followed in the second half, Woodward doubling his personal tally to make it 2-0.

Tom Morris made it a day to remember with the third goal, a cracker from 30 yards.

The Spurs team that day - Hewitson, Couquet, Burton, Morris, D. Steel, Darnell, Walton, Woodward, McFarlane, R. Steel, Middlemiss.
